THE CHICS IN THE MALE OFFSPRING (BUBBA BABIES) are doing so well and the accolades come in so fast it is impossible to keep up with them all. To date (Mar.2007), Bubba is the all time leading sire of reining horses in Canada, 77th reining sire in the world (with many winnings not recorded by Equistat because they are in Canada) and his son, Four Z Eyed Peppy was the 5th offspring to win the Canadian Supreme OPen Futurity in Sept.2006. That is 5 out of 5 entries! Also, another son, Smart Like Fox , was the top Reining Canada Limited Open horse for 2006!

Major Angel
Well, if you get tired of reining, you can always jump....that is if you have a CHICS In The Male.  This pretty mare who has both AQHA points and NRHA earnings placed in her first jumping competition!! And she loved it!  Look at those ears, classic Bubba girl, Major Angel by Male owned and shown (both reining and jumping) by Shauna Jones.

Chics Little King

Chics Little King  Multiple Open and Limited Open Champion, multiple bronze winner.

Another great son by Chics In The Male, this young stallion has overcome a disfiguring back injury to carry his young owner/trainer, Rhonda Lynn Doust, to the podium on numerous occasions. His huge heart, wonderful disposition and amazing stopping power is an inspiration to everyone who loves good horses.

Fine Geldings:  Smart and Paul

The well known Pugh family of Ponoka rodeo fame purchased both these fine geldings as 3 year olds from Sunglade Ranch. They had been started as reiners but daughter Billie Joe applied their basic reining training to a barrel pattern and in only 3 months had won money. The sorrel "Chics Smart Command"(Smart) has so much stop that he is a little slower than the bay "Eh Paul Wanna Chic"(Paul). Both have that gorgeous low-headed style around the barrels and lots of acceleration. However, that huge stop is also making Smart an awesome rope horse. So watch for Trigby Pugh and Smart in the roping pen next year! Dad Wally reports that both horses have "almost too much cow"!

Smart Little Checkers wins over $14,000

Smart Little Checkers scored the highest aggregate score in the 28 year history of the Canadian Supreme to win all 3 futurity divisions and a paycheck of over $14,000 in Red Deer over the Oct 3/2005 weekend. The win was the 4th by a
Chics In The Male
in only 5 foal crops old enough for the show pen. This win reinforces Chics in the Male as the all time leading sire of the most  prestigious event in Canada....

Checker's owner, Randy, is so proud of this little mare that he turned down $65,000US at the Futurity and instead is going to embryo her to Wimpys Little Step and keep showing her. Checkers was the highest earning horse in Canada in 2004!

SR Sweet Chicolet

Hi Lynne, I'm sure you already know, but I just wanted to write and let you know how much I love my Chics In The Male mare, SR Sweet Chicolet. She has guided me to new levels in the show pen by helping to calm my fears and providing me with confidence. She has brightened my bad days. And this weekend, she walked me up to our wedding ceremony. At the risk of sounding "sappy," there is absolutely no measure to what Chicolet has provided for my soul in only a few short months. Thank-you.
Sincerely, Jenn (McRae) Webster

King Chick Olena

Chic has proved to be an amazing and versatile horse for me over the years.
I purchased Chic in 2000 as a three year old gelding.

Shortly after purchasing this gelding  I did a lot of riding by myself along cut lines, and with the abundance of wildlife in the area, I quickly came to appreciate his level headedness and willing attitude. That winter, I did some riding at a local arena and got him started on cows. After gathering the  herd, he quickly realized, with much relish, that cows were meant to be chased.

The summer of 2001 found us in Banff National Park guiding trail rides. Keep in mind that this horse has never really been out in “public” or seen a river or Elk. He took the screaming children, bikes, strollers, umbrellas, cameras, crinkly rain coats, buses, river crossings, canoes, bridges, and wildlife all in stride. I found myself with a very reliable partner. Since then Chicken and I have been an inseparable team. We even tried jumping once, which he did very well at, but is too much of a trail horse who much prefers to calmly step over objects.

Recently we are getting back into reining and someday maybe even working cow!

SMART POCO CHIC

Smart Poco Chic, owned by Marion Brown, and shown by daughter Riki has twice been Hi Point at 4H On Parade at Calgary, Alberta and won 9 out of 10 events at the National Pinto/Open Show in Olds Alberta. He won Amateur and Open Classes in  Hunter Hack, Western Pleasure, Trail, English Pleasure, English Equitation, Showmanship and  Western Equitation! Besides winning in the show pen, "Buddy" is busy giving lessons to new riders and best of all, squiring handicapped riders around the ring with great kindness and courtesy. Smart is a Pro rope horse too!
Besides running barrels for the Pugh family, Smart (1997 son of Chics In THe Male) is now cleaning up in the roping pen. This is son-in-law Brad Poitros roping on Smart at the Dog Pound Stampede. "Smart is an incredible rope horse. He puts the calf exactly where you want it. He learned to rope incredibly quick and loves it."

SG CHIC MAGNET (Jets)

"2007 was a great year for SG CHIC MAGNET (Jets). This 3 year old gelding is what our breeding program in about. with a slow start at the Supreme (his first show), he showed his talent but did not want to run out. We Stepped him up and 2 weeks later Jets won the Reining Alberta Futurity in Cadston with a respectable 142 1/2. Two weeks later, he blew the doors off Moose Jaw Futurity with a 147 and a 145! (And he still isn't running hard) Anyone who saw the win (he was 4 points ahead of the 37 horse field which read like a who's who of reining) will agree that the colt is stunning and his low headed style is exactly what the jedges are looking for. I have just sent Jets down to Duane Latimer, who had heard about him from the jedges befroe I even talked to him. This colt is big time...

Jet's first show
